Welcome to our family Ellie

We welcomed Ellie Marie to our Family on Saturday March 3, 2012 at 6:34 pm.
Her day of delivery is a story that we will always remember, both because it was crazy and because it was wonderful. Saturday morning we had planned to get up and work on some spring cleaning before the baby arrived. Wayne was helping put away some food storage and sneezed, causing severe pain in his back. He limped into bed, and stayed there for a few hours. We decided to go see a Dr. and ended up in the ER. Wayne could barely walk into get there and ended up laying down on the waiting room floor. It was a relief that his Mom and Dad came to help. The ER Dr. gave him a steriod shot and a shot of morphine for the pain. He felt better for a little while, but when we wheeled him out he started to have a great deal of pain agian, and had to lay down in the back of the car to get home. He took some Lortab and crawled back into bed at home. By the time I had some lunch and put David down for a nap it was 3:00. I layed down by Wayne and started to feel some strong contractions. After about 20-30 mins I decided I better start timing these contractions and maybe do something about it. I called my Mother in law and sister in law. They came and got the kids and Connie drove me in to the hospital. I was teary and emotional leaving Wayne, but felt like it couldn't be helped. He was nauseus from the pain medicine and still hurting. I knew it would be very hard for him to try to make the trek in again. After that I really didn't have much time to think about him missing it all. It was scary and a little sad, but I knew the Dr. and Nurses and Connie would help me get through it. And most of all Heavenly Father blessed me so that I could remain calm and have strength to bring our precious little girl into the world. I was blessed to have familiar faces to help, a mother in law who remained calm and helped me be calm and get through the pain, and a fast labor. Everything went really smooth and well.
Wayne had his brothers come give him moral support and the Bishop and our Home teacher came and gave him a blessing. We stayed in touch on the phone. The next morning he was able to come in and meet her. He has been resting and improving, he had an MRI and it looks like he has a herniated disc, we will probablly have therapy and work through it.

Gma was a little late for the delievery too, her flight home from Fiji landed in Salt Lake at 7:30ish on Sat. She called right away and I was able to tell her all about it. So happy to have her home to meet her newest grandchild!

Big brother is pretty excited about his cute new baby sister!

The girls were also able to come in and meet her, they were so excited! The hospital brought them cake and Ice cream for a birthday celebration!

Girls are lots of fun!

I can't even imagine how hard that must have been!!! Back problems are horrible, but to give birth without your husband there.....pretty sure I could not do that. Ellie is beautiful and you look fabulous Stacy! I hope things settle down a little for you all!

I understand having to have a baby without your husband and I do no wish it on anyone.

My Aunts father (uncles-wifes-dad) is a Chriopractor in Lehi and specializes in herniated disks. When I had mine he told me that the BEST thing you can do for them is to:
-Put your feet flat on the floor, hip width apart
-Squat down, keepin your feet flat on the floor the whole time
-lean forward slightly
-put your elbows inside your knees, touching your knees
-remain in this position for 2 minutes.
-Repeat at least 4-6 times a day.

He says it separates the vertebrae so the disks that fill back up with fluid and that it will eliminate a lot of pain. Good luck. Luckily I was young enough when I got mine that it healed but it is still weak and very sensitive.
