Our Trip to Idaho

We went to Idaho Falls last weekend for my nephew Ethan's baptism. It was a long drive, but we really enjoyed ourselves. Wayne and I were able to sking/snowboarding. We can't remember the last time we went. It was a lot of fun. I was slow and careful and only fell once. Wayne takes more risks, and he fell a lot but showed me up pretty good. By the time I was comfortable/confident enough to really get some speed, it was time to go. Boy my muscles felt it after! It was nice to relax with family and swim in the pool at the hotel, go out to dinner and do some shopping. The baptism was really nice. I had the privellege of giving a talk. It was just really neat to be there for it all. Megan and Anna did not want to come home, I could've stayed a few more days too, but back to Utah! We've had a nice week: preschool at our house, dance, primary activity, art.. what's next? Probablly more ice fishing this weekend, Oh and lots of beading and crafting for the Spring Fling show next weekend.

swimming with cousins

We love hotels with pools, in fact it is a MUST! Wayne is more excited about it than the kids ;). David actually enjoyed it too, he liked "splashing" with his hands. Anna and Megan are both getting braver and swimming stronger. Wayne loves having his nephews to horse around with.

Ice Fishing 101

Wayne took me ice fishing on a Saturday morning at Brown's Draw. Our last experience at Flaming Gorge wasn't so fun, so we had to give it another try. I can't believe how much goes into it. We really had a great time. So here is some of what I learned:
Step one: Drag all your stuff onto the ice. (it helps if you have a "sled" to put all your gear in and a four wheeler to pull it!) Step two: Drill a hole in the ice. It was at least 2 feet thick there! Wayne got a workout with his manual ice auger. Then scoop out all the ice with a special strainer type tool.

Step three: Immediately put a pole in the hole! Wayne says "We always put one right in, even before we set up and usually you'll catch one right off". So of course he did!

Step four: Reel it up, and don't let it fall back in the hole! He actually has done that a couple of times... ;)

Step five: Stay until you catch your limit! We actually had to start throwing some back. All in all with everyone who fished that day there were over 20 fish "on the ice"
